Trans activists posed with tape over their mouths for a portrait series in defiance to being silenced by the Florida Board of Medicine’s decision to cut off public comment 90 minutes early.
“They may have prevented us from speaking during the August 5 meeting, but we won’t be silenced,” said Kat Duesterhaus, a non-binary organizer with Florida NOW.
Other actions the activists have taken include the open letter, public petition, storytelling, and plans to rally during the rule making process. They say they will continue to make noise in support of trans youth in Florida.
